Chairman's Message
A Chairde,
With just under a month to go till the 14th Asian Gaelic Games I'm sure all players and coaches are busy with final preparations getting their teams ready for the competition in Thailand. This year will see almost 600 players taking part in close to 170 games in what promises to be a fantastic event in the land of smiles.
This year we have two new teams from China, Suzhou and the Canton Celts join us as well as a ladies team from Bangkok. In fact the number of clubs has grown rapidly this year with new editions in Korea, Middle East and the Philippines. Its great to see our national games reaching new countries and cities in the region and the ACB is committed to helping all clubs grow and take part in our annual competitions.
There has been a continued effort to coach the youth in the clubs and great strides especially were made this year in Kuala Lumpar with the Orang Eire, Singapore with the Lion Cubs and in Hong Kong at the International Schools. The kids program continues to go from strength to strength in Dubai with the Celts so well done to all involved.
The ACB will hold its annual meeting in Bangkok and will reelect a new board for the 2009-2012 term so a big thank you to the outgoing members of the executive, great effort and the best of luck. The new board will have a lot of work in the next three years and i know the Overseas Committee in Croke Park are keen to help them in every way to continue promoting our games through coaching, games and cultural activities.
The ACB website has a new look and feel and will continue to be updated over the next few months and all contributions on events and happenings at your clubs are welcome.
Put the effort in now and you will all reap the rewards in Bangkok.
