Qatar GAA (Oryx na hEireann) has grown exponentially over the last 2 years. It's funny to consider we struggled to bring 12 players to Penang 2 years ago and now we have a panel of 35 with some fellas left behind due to work or family commitments. Ladies football has also grown with the introduction of new teachers from Ireland, however one worries if there is anyone left in Mayo? As the Gulf is such a transient place unfortunately Qatar has lost some quality players but we've welcomed a number of new players and others are coming out of the woodwork. The A team have been training hard and after winning the Gulf Gaelic Games for the first time, they are focused on causing an upset in Asia. The B's and C's have also been putting in some tough sessions, however most of these haven't taken place outside the bar! All in Qatar are excited about competing in Hong Kong and look forward to a great weekend of Gaelic Games. The following Paddy Power odds have been given: Dean Mitchell / Dave O'Brien to suffer a stomach bug on both mornings of the games and miraculously recover to make it out every night: 3/1 Dave O'Neill to meet a Hong Kong local and never come back to Qatar: 5/1 (male or female not specified). Conor Coakley top scorer: 10/1 (on or off the pitch) Qatar to do the Men's treble.... EVENS!! Qatar AbĂș! ![]() ![]()
