This year represents a major milestone in the history of the Dubai Celts GAA as this year the club celebrates it's 15th Year Anniversary!  The clubs pioneers founded the Celts in 1995 and the first ever tournament in the Middle East was played later that year.

From humble beginning the Celts have grown almost as fast as Dubai itself and now stand proudly as the most successful GAA club in the Middle East, with the men having last tasted AGG A football success in 2005, and the Ladies acting as perennial winners and contenders.

With the 10th year anniversary victory in 2005 acting as a good omen, the celts will be doing everything possible to complete a clean sweep in all competitions in Hong Kong this year.

Last year in Bangkok the Men's A and B teams were unlucky to be beated in their respective semi-finals.  The A team can feel especially hard done by as the dominated the tournament before the heavens opened up and stopped play, even beating eventual winners Hong Kong earlier in the competiton.  The Ladies will also be back to reclaim their title with the formbook suggesting they will be competing for honours, come the final on Sunday.

The Dubai Celts are proudly sponsored by Dubai Duty Free who have supported the club and helped it group since the beginning.  They can also boast to holding the largest tournament in the Middle East with the Dubai Duty Free Gulf Gaelic Games attracting large numbers from Asia, the Gulf, Ireland and Europe.  This year it will be held on the first weekend in March and the Celts hope some more teams from Asia will make the trip to the desert.

The Celts have been attending and supporting the AGG every year since 2004 with an average of about 50 members travelling each year since then.  For some of the "Real Celts" this will be their 7th straight year in a row competing in the games, which coincidentally started in Hong Kong in 2003.  The omens are looking good for hte Celts this year but come throw in this year they know they will have it all to do.

With that in mind this summer has seen the Celts go one step further with Boot Camp training starting in early June on the beaches of Dubai.  Beach towels and sun lotion were not on the agenda however, as the Celts braved 45 degree temps, with a mix of sea sprinting and cardio/fitness drills to ensrue this year in HK nothing is left to chance!

This tour to Hong Kong which is also supported by Sigma, is gearing up to be the biggest Celts contingent ever to travel to an AGG with close to 65 members confirmng the 10 hour flight from Dubai to Hong Kong already.  Hopefully the flight back will have some extra luggage in the form of the cups we are coming to reclaim!
